Dang! I'm bad at updating right now...
Written by North Lilly

Wow!  It's only bee 6 months or so.  Well time has certainly flown! As I casually touched on in the last post I was in a motorcycle accident last June.  It was a dire one that resulted in a tramatic brain injury, the kind that leaves most people as bedridden invalids.  What ever spirits look down on me blessed me, however, and after only a few months I was able to return to work.  Now-a-days I'm at 90 to 95% of my physical capabilities.  You'll have to ask Erica how I'm doing mentally, but I feel fine!

I can't begin to relate the terror and guilt I felt at first.  Terror because this was my worst nightmare come to life (awaking from a sleep to find myself almost paralyzed on my left side and realizing that I'd be in and out of a coma for a month) and guilt from the worry and pain I caused my loved ones to suffer.  I know that the accident wasn't my fault, and I waas fully enrobed in my protective gear, but being almost killed or worse left as a veggie caused REAL pain for both Er and my little Angel.  I'll be spending the rest of my life making this one up...

Hello again!
Written by North Lilly
Well it has been a long time since I updated the site.  This delay has many reasons, the greatest of which I suffered a terrible motorcycle accident June 25.  I was only recently released out of the hospital the first week of August. Thankfully, I am actually recovering from my brain injury and am doing well.It is still a demanding task, however...

One of the areas I am trying to catch up on is presenting photos that others would love.  One of the most recent were photos of my loving daughter's 6'th birthday.  They can be seen on Flickr...   http://www.flickr.com/photos/23075001@N03/sets/72157607149603848/

Choppy Political Water?
Written by North Lilly
An old high school friend recently asked me why I've chosen to support Obama in this election.  I thought I'd voice my thoughts...

From the first time I voted till very recently I would have characterized myself primarily as a conservative libertarian. By this I mean that I feel that as far as possible social issues for which there is no consensus should not be fodder for legislation. This is not to say that "You can't legislate morality!" This assertion, so commonly used, is patently absurd. The laws against theft, murder, rape, etc. are clearly attempts to officially encode moral values into law. But in those cases society as a whole clearly has achieved consensus and agrees that they are bad. Rather there are numerous "hot button" issues today, abortion, genetic engineering, to name a few for which our society has not only NOT achieved consensus but is clearly divided; and it is these areas where I am uncomfortable establishing restrictive laws.

The FCC New Family Dinner
Written by North Lilly
Tonight we all partook of the FCC New Family Dinner where we heard Elaine Schulte (the head of The International Adoption Clinic at the Cleveland Clinic).  She was a quite informative speaker and the dinner afterwards was quite pleasant!  It brought back memories of when Er and I went to get Rowan.  Apparently I wasn't the only one because when I put her to bed for the night I was asked by Rowan once again to tell the story of her adoption.  She loves to hear the story and it never fails to bring tears of happiness to my eyes.

Embedded here is a photo montage of the event. Simply Click to view more...
