Ouch! Whimper....
Written by North Lilly
Well it's official.  My doctor has confirmed that I am the proud possessor of not one, not two, but three herniated cervical disks!  Since December I've been dealing with severe back pain and last week's MRI has revealed why.

I suspect that these are the fall-out of 4 separate car accidents in my past where I was struck.  Oh well.  Next stop: the Neurosurgeon...

The Watcher
Written by North Lilly
thewatcher.jpg The Watcher is the third in another of the strong supernatural women series that I've been enjoying recently.  Written by Jeanne C. Stein, it follows the exploits of a female bounty hunter turned vampire.

Summary (from book jacket)

For a newly made vampire, Anna is a hard case. That's why she's become a Watcher - one of the enforcers who keep supernatural criminals in check and deliver just punishment when necessary. But Anna is still fighting to control the raging fury of the vampire within her.

Her self-control is further tested when her lover - a DEA agent - disappears, even as a vampire serial killer terrorizes San Francisco and a Wiccan sorceress plans to raise a demon to do her bidding.  Anna wants to jump into the fray, but her Watcher mentor thinks she’s not ready and sends her away for her own safety.  But if there's one thing Anna has always been able to find, it's trouble…

My review:

This is a potato-chip book and series.  It is fun but not particularly nourishing.  The characters are fun but the mysteries in them never really builds up a great deal of tension.  Paperback or library fair.

A banner day!

Well it appears that the Tooth Fairy has been sighted flying around the Lilly house this night as Rowan declared with much excitement, "My tooth came out with the pretzel!!!"  What is the going rate for a first tooth anyway? Money mouth

Resolutions...
Written by North Lilly
I'm notoriously bad at keeping New Year's resolutions.  That doesn't stop me, however, from making them.  Here are this year's very modest resolutions:
  1. Avoid gaining more than 10 pounds this year.  Losing would be great but let's try little steps...
  2. Make at least one entry each month into the site.
  3. Eliminate one source of family debt.
  4. Reduce clutter in house by a noticeable margin.
We'll see how these go...  Tongue out

National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets (2007)
Written by North Lilly
national_treasure_book_of_secrets.jpg Opening in the last week of 2007, Disney's "National Treasure 2" is in my opinion a pleasant revisit of the first movie.  Like all such movies if you liked the first movie you'll likely like this one;  but as is common, you will likely find this one to be less lustrous.

The premise is as follows:  Our hero's family honor is tarnished when a document fragment comes to light suggesting that an ancestor was actually the mastermind responcible for the Lincoln assasination.  In order to clear his name, he must track down a mesoamerican treasure trove.  If you can ignore the final resting place of this fabulous treasure you will have lots of fun...
